Grace Barrett (’24) was raised in New York City and Southern California. The influence of these entertainment epicenters, and her two self-published grandmothers, inspired her passion for screenwriting. She graduated summa cum laude from George Washington University with a B.A. in Middle East Studies, writing her thesis as a screenplay about the Syrian Civil War, and from the University of St Andrews with an MLitt in Medieval History, writing her dissertation about creative license in medieval storytelling, analyzing medieval chronicles and The King (2019). During her time at USC Gould, she also worked as a legal intern at the Writers Guild of America West.
